Grateful for the lessons
I am grateful for the lessons that made me tough
At this stage in my life, I can honestly look back and clearly see the good, bad, and ugly -both in my journey and in the lives of those around me.
And there has been plenty.
So, I started thinking… and I picked three tough life issues that I have been through and sat with them.
I pondered them, looked them over, recalled when and how it happened, how I reacted, and the outcome.
Here’s what I learned.
You can’t control anyone but yourself – You can choose to be a positive influence in someone’s life, but at the end of the day, we all have our own decisions to make.
So, instead of draining your energy trying to fix grown folks – especially those set in their ways or headed in the wrong direction- pray for them and keep it moving forward.
Your plate is already full.
When someone hurts you, it’s real, and in that moment, it can feel overwhelming and like it is the end of the world. But even then, you still have choices: work through it or walk away. Staying stuck in between only prolongs the pain and keeps everything unsettled.
Once your decision is made, ask God for strength either way. He will give it, He always does.
And forgiveness…forgiveness is freeing.
Choosing to truly forgive doesn’t mean what happened was okay.
Nope!
What that means is that you have released the weight of it. It means your heart and mind are open again-to hear what God has been saying all along:
That you are loved.
That you are not along.
And that He will comfort you, always.
Breathe deeply. Let go. God’s peace meets us right where we are.
