Love Yourself!
Love yourself before anyone else sounds selfish. However, hear me out.
The Opposite of love is hate.
The extreme opposite of loving yourself is hating yourself.
That’s about a feeling of disdain, detestation, or self-disgust. When someone doesn’t like themselves, they have negative thoughts and feelings inside. Negative emotions can turn into negative symptoms
- Under- or Overeating
- Physical Neglect
- Defeatism
- Self-Sacrifice
- Acquiescence
- Hostility Towards Perceived “Threats”
- Unnecessary Spending
- Isolation
- Drug and/or Alcohol Abuse
- Relationship Sabotage
These are signs that a person might not feel good about themselves. I don’t mean the occasional overeating, a short period of not exercising, or overspending on a few items, or wanting to be alone to regroup or reset. However, when any of these behaviors become extreme and interfere with your life, you may be experiencing self-dislike.
There are reasons a person could fall into self-loathing
- Avoid setting unrealistic goals. Don’t look to the left or right to see what others are doing. Focus on yourself if you want to produce a chain of restaurants or go back to school to learn a new trade. Establish realistic small steps to help you reach your goals. It doesn’t matter how others got to where they are; it has nothing to do with you.
- Past Traumas from past or current relationships, your childhood, these experiences can affect you into adulthood if not dealt with. Seeking help, journaling to develop a healthy relationship with others, and creating a positive foundation for self-love can work wonders.
- Social Comparisons – Social media can skew our perception of reality. And cause one to feel inadequate, jealous, or have low self-esteem. One solution limit your time on social media.
- Perfectionism – the root of this is fear of failure and rejection.
- Negative Self-Talk – that is a big one. This one is conversations or things you tell yourself about yourself regularly. I will never get that promotion, I can not stand how I look, I look ugly…and so on

How God Sees Us
How Does God See Me, Now?
We are perfect in His sight, as righteous as He is. This has nothing to do with how we act or how we look or even what we have done.
Hebrews 10:14 – As a result of One sacrifice, Christ has made His people completely right with God always. God is making those people completely separate from everything bad. God is no longer mad at us.
Who was that sacrifice? What Did Jesus Do – Just For Me?
Jesus died on the cross and bore shame, humiliation, and torment for us. What was nailed to that cross was anger, hatred, sickness, and disease, to name just a few.
When Jesus rose from the dead, God’s anger toward our sin was replaced with His grace and mercy, and His grace and mercy remain for anyone who believes that Jesus went to the cross and rose from the dead.
Life is about choices. One thing God will not do is make us do anything. He allows us to come to it and realize that He loves all of us and that when we accept Jesus’ work on the cross, our sins are covered.
This is not the opportunity to do wrong on purpose, but for us to walk in His wonderful blessings and share His work with others.
It’s a Trick!
Self-Hatred –
It’s a trick of the enemy to distract you from the beautiful gifts God has for us, including His grace, mercy, and peace. He even has a purpose for each of us.
