When you doubt
When you doubt, see God’s steady love is actually part 2 –
Part 1: Today I am Stepping Out on Faith
Usually, when I share my hang-ups, issues, and fears, I never come back and tell you all how it turned out.
This time I am.
Last time, I shared that I was having my first book launch—it was actually my second. My daughter surprised me with my first one when I visited them, and I only had 30 minutes between the surprise and the actual signing.
So there was no time to get nervous. I did not have to do anything but smile and sign books because she and my granddaughters had planned the entire event for me. It was beautiful!
But this book launch was entirely my responsibility. Don’t get me wrong, I had some excellent help. Thank God, I couldn’t have done it without their assistance.
But it’s like having your first baby: you’re excited, but you don’t know what to expect. You want to be the best parent to the beautiful baby that God has blessed you with, and you don’t want to get it wrong or mess up. Questions and doubts arise: Are you truly equipped to raise a child? And what do you do next?
At first, those were my fears until our oldest was born, and I cradled him in my arms, realizing I might not know what I was doing. But God would guide us.
I have hosted and organized many events, including Women’s teas, luncheons, gatherings, and meetings, and I even ran a book club for a couple of years.
However, this Book Launch felt as if I was letting others know what God had put in me. This was the moment of truth: would others see the value in my work? The purpose that God had put into me from a child.
Well….that is how I felt about this book launch. I knew I needed to do it on many levels. And once I did it, it was such a relief.
Here is what I realized: God, in His incredible grace, met me where I was in my faith and blessed me with the love and support of the people.
But also, I had been walking in my purpose for a while, and this book launch was just another avenue for me to get His message out.
Now there is no doubt that He will trust me with the next phase that He has for me.
I believe that God has a purpose and plan for each of us. And that sometimes we have to push aside the fear, get out of our own way, and put our faith in the One who has given us our purpose.
When you doubt, regardless of what it is, don’t forget the words below.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
– Philippians 4:6-7
God does not say we won't face anxiety or fear, but He does say that when we do, we should share our feelings with Him, pray, and thank Him. When we go to the Father, His peace will cover us. Don't try to understand how or when He will do it—trust and have faith that He will.
