Special Birthdays
There are many special birthdays this month.
Without naming names, I have many friends whose birthdays are this month!
I get a text message from an excited grandmother who was blessed with a granddaughter born today, while she had just celebrated her birthday the day before, and her other granddaughter’s and daughter’s birthdays the week before. Talk about wow!
I have a nephew and a great-niece whose birthdays are this month; in fact, they are a day apart from each other: Daddy and daughter. Happy Birthday!
More Special Birthdays
My grandmother’s birthday was on the 15th of November, and if she were here with us, she would be 108!
This year, I almost shared a birthday with a family member—he decided to wait a few days and was born a healthy, bouncing baby boy! Amen, I’ll call him my ‘almost twin’.
And of course, you know I celebrated a milestone birthday this month!
However, the birthday I want to talk about now is a one-of-a-kind, special birthday.
I am sure at least one of her brothers would protest. (lol)
She weighed more than her brothers, and carrying her was not the easiest; in fact, she was unexpected.
Nonetheless, she is special to me because she is our only daughter.
Oh man, when she was born, I felt like I was holding a mini-me in my arms. I was so honored that God had entrusted such a life to us. A girl, a daughter! I wanted to mimic the love my mother had shown me and pour it into her, giving her what I had learned thus far.
Oh, what a task! As I reflect on her 40-plus years of life, I have hit the mark in some areas while missing it in others.
She came on her own time, and now that I am thinking about it, she has been doing things her way for a while. She isn’t a cookie-cutter; she has created many things in her life and career.
Not following the crowd but choosing to do what God had put in her heart. Not always knowing if this was the right path, but still choosing to trust God.
She is married to the perfect man (my son) and has my perfect grandchildren. I don’t care what anyone else says. (LOL)
So here’s to a special birthday for a special daughter, you celebrate you, sweetheart! I love you!
