Describe one habit that brings you joy.

There are many habits that I do nowadays that bring me joy!

However, I did not always feel that way. I sometimes did things to do them or to get them over with.

Now my habits are purposeful! I do things with intention. Some old habits I did not enjoy have kept, made a few small changes and now I enjoy them. Other habits I did not like and added no value to my existence I have gotten rid of.

Small Changes, Big Joy: Habits for a Better Day!

I used to enjoy walking most days of the week!

I lost my love for walking.

I had to examine why –

  1. Too busy
  2. Did not prioritize me
  3. Did not feel safe walking
  4. Tired

I started looking at why I didn’t like to walk when I used to walk ALL the time and EVERYWHERE.

So I started examining my reasons for not walking and began making small positive changes to turn walking into a habit for a better day!

  1. Too busy excuse – I am busy; however, I found that if I made walking one of the first things I do in the morning, ‘again’, then I would have 14 hours ahead of me to do what I needed to get done.
  2. Did not prioritize – why? Because I did not see the value in it. Now I do. Walking strengthens not only my body but my mind as well.
  3. I didn’t feel safe walking, so I now walk in places where I feel safe (indoors, tracks, parks, the lake), and sometimes others come with me.
  4. Tired – I get better rest at night because now I am walking, it comes full circle.
Small Changes, Big Joy: Habits for a Better Day!

As you can see, I didn’t make all these changes at once. It started with deciding to get back to it, then making one small change at a time.
