If you could host a dinner and anyone you invite was sure to come, who would you invite?

There are many different scenarios I can use.

First Scenario –

My wonderful parents (though my mom has passed on), in a perfect world, if she were still here, I would love to sit down once again and enjoy our favorite meal together.

This would happen 2-3 times a year. I would travel 8-9 hours to see my parents. Before I got to my parents’ home, I would stop at this famous fish market and get three dinners. Once I picked them up, I would call my mom and say I would be there in under 20 minutes.

All three of us—Mom, Dad, and I—would sit at the kitchen table and catch up on the gossip. Those were some good times, and I relished every moment.

I loved the fact that, if not for 30 minutes, I had these two old people all to myself. And yes, they were my two old people whom I would do anything for.

Second Scenario –

My grandchildren, when all of them are at the house and sitting around the table, it becomes a lively, noisy, and beautiful controlled chaos. When they were younger, nine years old and under, I was more of the cook, maid, and server, waiting on them hand and foot. There was always some drama. Lol

Yet, there were times when they ate and enjoyed their grandfather’s food. Just seeing the smile on their little faces made us happy. “This is good,” or this is the best….. I would always think, and I still do, that I hope these moments provide some great memories for them when they grow up.

Third Scenario –

Last but not least, our children, if it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t have our lovely grandchildren. Our children have grown up to be such a blessing. When we sit around the table, we listen to the conversations between them and us. And it never ceases to amaze me how they have matured.

They are adults with great jobs, children, and active lives, and their personal relationship with the Lord. As we converse around the dinner table, my heart is constantly warmed, and I say a prayer of thanks to God for continually protecting them and giving them His wisdom.

Of course, they aren’t the only ones I enjoy having dinner with. There are many others, but for the sake of time, I’ll just mention my top 3!
