Two little words – ‘What If?’
What if – means what might or could have happened in a particular situation.

What if ???
On the plus side, it encourages creative thinking. To imagine something that might or might not happen.
For example, what if I walked to the moon? How many steps are there between here and the moon? This is imagined.
What if I licked a tootsie pop to the center without biting? How many licks would it take to reach the center of my tootsie pop? Click below for this vintage commercial.
I enjoyed that commercial!
However, you already know that I am going to look at —
The other side of ‘What If’
When I hear the words ‘What if?’ coming from a worried look or expression,
Then, this could come from a place of fear or anxiety of the unknown and uncertainty of the future.
For example –
What if – I go to the doctor and they give me bad news?
What if – I decide to marry and it does not work out? Again?
What if I get fired from my job? How will I pay my bills?
What if I move and end up regretting it? Will I be seen as a failure?
Our lives can often be filled with ‘what ifs,’ creating a sense of uncertainty that might make us fearful about stepping outside our comfort zones or making important decisions.
So, let us go to the scriptures.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Psalms 121:7-8
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
So, What Am I Saying?
It is important to remember that you are never by yourself. Seeking the counsel and help of those close to you and asking God to give you direction will help ease the what-ifs in your life.
