When Life Gets Messy
When life gets messy, the first thing I want to do is bolt. I want to disappear until the trouble has passed.
However I have learned that when life gets messy that is never the solution
- The problem has calmed down for a moment only to rear it’s ugly head again.
- The problem has worsened.
- I’ve not learned the lesson that was in it for me; Therefore no growth and I become stuck.
Life rarely unfolds exactly as we planned. Unexpected setbacks, unanswered prayers, broken relationships, financial pressures, health concerns, and disappointments can leave us wondering what God is doing. During these moments, trust is often easier to talk about than to practice.
Yet it is in life’s messiest seasons that our faith has the greatest opportunity to grow. Trusting God doesn’t mean pretending everything is okay. It means believing that even when we cannot see the whole picture, God can.
He is working behind the scenes, weaving every challenge, delay, and detour into His greater purpose. The mess may be temporary, but God’s faithfulness is eternal.
While you are going through here are 3 tips to
- Remember Who God Is – God’s character never changes. He is faithful, loving, wise, and good-even when circumstances are difficult.
- Focus on God’s Promises Instead of Your Problems – Problems are temporary, but God’s promises remain forever. Fill your heart with Scripture instead of fear.
- Look Back at God’s Faithfulness– Reflect on previous seasons where God carried you through. The same God who helped you then is still with you now.
Challenging seasons can be tough, but they often turn into some of the most significant periods in our faith journey. When life doesn’t unfold as we expect, we have the chance to stop trying to solve everything on our own and instead start trusting the One who knows the way forward.
Your circumstances may be messy today, but they are not the final chapter of your story. God can take what feels broken and bring healing, take disappointment and create hope, and bring peace to places that once felt chaotic.
Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep moving forward, even if your next step is small. One day, you may look back and realize that the season you thought would break you was the very season God used to strengthen your faith and teach you just how trustworthy He really is.
Amen!
