Peace of Encouragement

When Worrying Becomes a Habit

Worry is feeling unease about situations to allow your mind to dwell on difficult things or to never be at rest with anything. To always think something negative is about to happen.

Worrying robs us of happiness, contentment, and peace.

There are myriad factors that can lead to feelings of worry within us. When left unchecked, this worrying can become all-consuming, causing us to miss out on the countless wonders life has in store. Indeed, the ability to fully appreciate and savor the present moment is hindered when our attention is solely focused on our worries.

And persistent worrying can also take a toll on our physical and mental well-being, potentially leading to adverse health effects. It is crucial to acknowledge the impact that prolonged worry can have on our overall wellness and actively work to find healthy coping mechanisms to navigate through challenging times.

30 Encouraging Bible Verses to Overcome Worry and Anxiety (biblestudytools.com)

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Here is a beautiful prayer about not being anxious or worried

A Prayer to Soothe an Anxious and Worried Heart: “Dear Lord, I thank you that I can come to You always for any reason. I’m grateful that when I pray to You, You answer me. Help me to come to You at the beginning of my fears and anxieties instead of waiting until I can’t stand them anymore. The quicker I come to You the better. You want to free me from ALL my fears. Help me look to You for help more often so that I can be radiant with Your joy.

In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
