Wisdom Of It All

You Immediately Double Your Trouble Not Listening

A new chapter – A new set of instructions, and a chance to get it right!

Proverbs Chapter 12

Verse 1

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,

whoever hates correction is stupid.

I appreciate this scripture for its directness. It emphasizes the consequences of ignoring wisdom and failing to learn from correction, likening it to a lack of self-control. It serves as an important reminder of the potential troubles that may arise from this behavior.
I thought I would look at this nugget of a verse from three angles.

Child

When a child does not listen to their parents

There are many consequences when a child does not listen to those around them. A parent says do not touch the fire because if you do you will get burned and it could scar and hurt you for life figurately, and literally. And they decide to do it ends up unfortunately reap the consequences of their actions.
The Good Thing: God is a God of second, third and fourth chances. In my case the number is higher. And He gives us a chance to get it right with His grace and mercy. Amen!

Couples

When spouses do not listen to each other

When two people who have vowed to love each other and care for each other somehow forget to hear each other—I mean, hear each other—unfortunately, many things can creep up in that relationship—resentment, anger, jealousy, and the list can go on and on.
The Good Thing – Is that if just one of you would stop, turn to your loved one, and say I am listening, and I will be your safe place to come to and talk to, I will hear, and we can do this together. Oh, my goodness, that relationship would look positively different almost immediately.

Work

When a worker does not listen to instructions

When a worker chooses not to cooperate with the team or follow instructions, such as arriving late to work or not collaborating effectively, it can have serious consequences. This may lead to being let go, facing suspension, or missing out on potential promotions. Ultimately, it can impact one’s livelihood.
When these actions are exhibited in the workplace, they negatively impact everyone around you.
The Good Thing – Refraining from these behaviors, you can reduce tension and resentment and increase your money.

Summing It Up

Application of Proverbs Chapter 12 Verse 1.

Listening and then doing takes skill – however it is doable. God has given us two ears and one mouth for a reason.

I remember when I was a teenager, it seemed cool to not listen to your parents, teachers and anyone.
But what time has shown me is that there is now a big difference in the lives of those who chose to listen and those who chose not to.
