Start Praying

For all God’s promises are “Yes” in Him. And so through Him we can say “Amen” to the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (ISV)

How to Stop Complaining and Start Praying Part 1

Hi and welcome back for the conclusion. God holds nothing good from us. He tells us in 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV) that His promises are yes in Him. And because of that we can say amen, glory to our God.

I believe we harm ourselves by not realizing that God desires good for His children, and that the words we use can genuinely hurt or bless us.

Prayer is more than asking God to fix our problems it is communication with God. It is relationship and surrendering. It is listening, thanksgiving, confession, asking for wisdom, direction, strength, healing, provision and peace.

Prayer allows us to bring our concerns to God instead of allowing those concerns to consume us.

But sometimes we make excuses for why our prayers aren’t being answered.

Try this the next time you catch yourself complaining:

STOP.

What am I complaining about?

IDENTIFY.

What am I really afraid of or needing?

PRAY.

What specific request can I bring to God?

THANK.

What can I thank God for right now?

TRUST.

What part of this situation do I need to release to Him?

Prayer is –

  • Trusting God
  • It is about developing a relationship with Him
  • And allowing Him to transform our hearts as we seek His will.

God does not need us to have perfect words.

He wants honest hearts.

So the next time you hear yourself say, “I can’t believe this is happening,” pause.

Then ask:

“God, what do You want me to do with this?”

That question can turn a complaint into a conversation.

And sometimes that conversation is where peace begins.

Amen.
