Kindness 101
Kindness 101 means (to me) that kindness should be a part of who you are, that showing kindness should be ingrained in your DNA.
That’s starting with a smile. A smile is something that people understand across the board. Regardless of age, gender, or where you live in this great big world of ours.
A smile is a form of communication that says hi. I notice you, and I acknowledge you.
Sometimes, the only smile that person will get that day is from you.
I cannot tell you how many times others have smiled at me, and it brightens that moment in my day.
During this time of year, people are usually busy with shopping, visiting family, preparing food, attending holiday events, decorating, mailing Christmas gifts, and celebrating. That is a typical part of this season.
So when someone pauses to make eye contact with you and smile in passing-well that is a beautiful exchange.
And when you add someone holding the door open for you, or you holding the door open for them? Well, there you go—that’s the cherry on top of the sundae!
I suppose I value kindness 101 in others because it is what God expects of us. God Himself is love, and He gave this world His only begotten Son, Jesus.
Thank You, Father!
When you put things into perspective, the least we can do for one another is demonstrate some kindness through our gestures, a smile, or allowing someone to go ahead of you in line, or holding the door open for someone.
Small actions, huge benefits on both sides.
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32
A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.
Proverbs 11:17
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
Colossians 3:12
