This is the Day that the Lord has Made!

There are four wonderful and meaningful parts to this scripture.

Part 1 – This is the day

I remember singing this as a child in the choir. I loved to sing this song. And then I just knew that by singing this hymn, we were not talking about any old day – we were singing about this day: the here and the now. Not fretting or concerning ourselves with yesterday or tomorrow, but this day.

Part 2 – that the Lord has made

No one, and I mean no one, can take credit for this day but the LORD. No one can make a day but the LORD. God has given us a gift, and that is this day! When you woke up this morning, you were opening your eyes to God’s gift of another day.

Part 3 – And we will rejoice

This tells me that this day is a day to be happy, a day to rejoice regardless of what life throws at you. The fact that this gift of another day was given to us should not determine whether we rejoice or not.

Part 4 – And be glad in it

This sounds like a choice. We can show our gratitude and appreciation for this day. We can choose to thank Him for the day, we can choose to be grateful in this moment. Sometimes it is all about changing our perspective regardless of the circumstances.

This is the day that the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

Thank you, Father, for another opportunity to rejoice in You on this day!

Grace and Peace!
