What could you let go of, for the sake of harmony?

Simple Steps To Let Go and Find More Peace

Some things we just have to let go of to find our peace. We know this, but we don’t always do it for various reasons. There could be many obstacles.

Scared

No one will like me

People will start talking about me

I can not afford it

I do not want to be alone

There are a variety of reasons a person may not want to let go of something even though it is wreaking havoc in their lives and bringing no peace.

I am no different; I have used all the excuses above, and more.

However, what I have learned is that in the end it is me that suffered. Everyone else has went on with their lives.

And I am the one who is stuck in this cycle of anger, frustration, and resentment.

What I also realized is that they were going to talk about me anyway, and they were going to do what they wanted regardless.

So, over the years, I have learned some things through Christ Jesus to protect my peace.

  1. I pick my battles.

I will allow some things, but I will no longer allow most things in or around my life if they disturb my peace.

  • 2. I set my boundaries and hold to them.

There is not much anyone can do to persuade me to do anything I do not want to do. My no means no, and my yes means yes. When someone tries to coerce me, that is a sign of disrespect. (My grandchildren are excluded of course.) Lol

  • 3. I ask for God’s peace and protection daily. Psalms 91 is my absolute favorite!

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”
