What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

First Hour Routine

First Hour Routine

I’m beginning to realize that how you start your day truly matters. When your morning begins without intention—no planning, no self-care, no sense of grounding—it’s easy for confusion to take over before the day even gets going.

And when confusion leads, frustration and headaches are often not far behind. But a mindful start, even in small ways, can shift the entire tone of your day and bring a greater sense of calm and control.

All it takes is 30 minutes to wake up with intention, ground yourself spiritually, mentally and physically.

Sometimes we fall into the trap of thinking, “If I can’t spend 30 minutes reading the Bible, then why bother at all.” That all-or-nothing mindset can quietly hold you back—but it’s just that, a mindset. And it can be changed.

The truth is, it doesn’t take much to shift your day in the right direction. Just five minutes of stretching or a short walk can help you reset and refocus. Even a few minutes of planning can bring clarity—and before you know it, that time has flown by.

Below is a simple, suggested way to start your day. Feel free to adjust it to fit your life and your needs.

  • 5 minutes prayer and gratitude
  • 5 minutes stretch or walk
  • 10 minutes read or reflect
  • 5 minutes plan day
  • 5 minutes ask God for guidance and protection for the day ahead
  1. You’re centered instead of scattered
  2. You’re intentional instead of reactive
  3. You carry peace instead of chasing it

It’s a win-win!

Breathe deeply. Let go. God’s peace meets us right where we are.
