Who do I spend the most time with? My immediate family, whether it’s sharing a cup of coffee, engaging in good conversation, shopping, going out, having a heart-to-heart talk, and getting together for the holidays, and so on.
The truth is—or should be—that you spend time with people you enjoy, who add to who you are, or whom you simply love.
Because the people you are around the most shape your identity, leading you to adopt their habits, whether they are pleasant or unpleasant. And it can influence your stress level.
But then I started reflecting on who else I engaged with. Maybe not daily, but they are still a part of my life.
What about people you don’t care for, whom you must spend a lot of time with, like a co-worker or a family member?
Below are the people who come into contact with us daily, weekly, occasionally, or just for the holidays.
Friends – Normally, our friends are a part of our social life in a positive way
Work Friends – Are your work friends pleasant to be around, or do you tolerate their existence?
Social Media Friend -, how much time do you spend conversing with your social media friends
Extended Family – what about your extended family do you visit them on the weekends or for special occasion, or are they a source of stress for you?
I came across this interesting site, and after reading it, I realized it resonates with me. I will share some of what I realized.
6 Graphs Everyone Needs To See: Who and how long we spend our time with throughout our lives
The time you spend with your children is a fleeting moment that can pass quickly.
The time you spend with family usually sharply declines after high school.
The time you spend with friends usually declines when you start your family life.
The time you spend with your partner is at an all-time high when the kids are out of the house, and you’re retired.
The time you spend with coworkers is significant during your working years. Please be careful about where you choose to work, as those will likely be the people you spend most of your time with.
So, as you can see, it depends on what season we are in when it comes to who we spend the most time with.
Choose wisely!
