What notable things happened today?

Two most surprising things that I learned this year!

Well, maybe this is not surprising. Maybe I finally connected the dots and it makes sense now.

Or maybe I am tired of going in a vicious circle about the same thing over and over again.

Or I am realizing I don’t have time for foolishness anymore.

FIRST –

You cannot hate someone and pray for them at the same time. You’ll need to choose which one you want to do.

Otherwise, you will become frustrated and confused in an already frustrated and confusing situation.

I’ve discovered that praying is easier now. It wasn’t simple at first, but with practice and perseverance, my prayers and the sincerity behind them have improved for that person or group of people.

There is a part of you that want to curse them but the god part of you never truly feel right doing it. When you begin to pray for your enemies initially it is not easy at least it was not for me. But like anything when you add God to the equation He carries that load for you. And praying for who have wronged you becomes easier.

Our obligation according to

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Matthew 5:44

This may be difficult at first, but all the energy, time, and resentment that come with hating someone ultimately hurt you more.

Matthew 5:44 offers us a godly perspective: we do not have to repay evil with evil; rather, we should pray for those who do evil and move forward with our lives. If they apologize, great; if not, that’s fine too.

Your relationship is with the Father, and He will grant you peace either way.

SECOND –

Once you truly make up your mind to do something good or bad, it will get done. Think about the last time you made up your mind to do something and it got done. It may not have been easy but you tighten your belt, built up your courage and plowed ahead.

For example:

Relationships – When a person gets truly tired of being in a bad relationship, they will find a way to leave. It may take time for them to reach their limit, whatever that looks like, but they will leave and stay gone.

I observe relationships that are marked by a cycle of breaking up and getting back together. They may separate one day and reunite the next. However, there are instances where they work through their issues and choose to stay together. Amen. I’m not referring to those relationships.

Instead, I’m discussing the ones where the back and forth never truly resolves the underlying problems, and eventually, they break up for good and move on with their lives.

Or what about when you finally decide to write your first post and release it? Will others get what I am trying to share? Or will they continue to stroll past my work without acknowledging it?

And then one day, you decide to push that button—to release your work to post it for all to read. Because in that moment, you have truly resolved to do it. To be vulnerable to others in your writing, and it’s okay because you soon realize that others are just as vulnerable as you are. Amen.

So, what have I learned

  1. Praying for my enemies frees me.
  2. Once I make up my mind, I follow through.

I have learned many things on my life journey so far. Indeed, there will be many more that I will share in the future.

Have a blessed day!
