How one small thing made my whole day better
When I woke up!
When I was younger, I took for granted that I would wake up everyday
When I was younger, I took for granted that I would wake up in my right mind every day.
When I was younger, I took for granted that God would keep me and my family safe through the night.
As I have gotten older, I realized that it was great to have the faith and confidence that I would wake up each day and be protected through the night.
But I needed to direct my attention to the One who was responsible for protecting me from dangers seen and unseen.
The One who was responsible for waking me up each day in my right mind and protecting my family as they slept.
God says that our angels are assigned to us to give us divine protection.
They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Psalms 91:12
Is this a small thing that can make my day better? Well, yes and no. It is not a small matter, and when I am blessed to see another day, it makes my day better.
However, it can be something we take for granted, and sometimes we need to pause, stop, and whisper a thank you, Father, for your continued protection over me and my loved ones.
Every morning that I wake up and I’m breathing, I can feel it and take a moment to say, you know, ‘Thank God I’m alive for another day.’
