Powerful Ways to Make Better Decisions in Your Life-2

I wished when I was younger that life came with directions on how to maneuver through the different stages of:

Puberty

Friendships

Relationships

First Love

Where to Live

Career Choice

First Heart Break

Marriage

Raising Children

Divorce

The list is endless

Remarkable Ways to Make Better Decisions in Your Life-2

Yes, thank God we have His word.

However, my point is that there is no manual with one answer: fits all.

The truth is that God does not care where we live, our career choices, who we marry, how many children we have, or if we choose to stay single.

I mean, not really.

We have free will and can choose what we like. Thankfully, we have parents/guardians/positive role models who have helped mold us, and we have God’s word on what guidance to look for.

But outside of that, it is up to us.

There are many ways to make the best possible decisions in your life to have the best outcome.

This is a four- part series, with the second one

Using our mistakes as a positive catalyst or motivation for success.

  • Some things one may say if they allow a failure or mistake to stop them or intimidate them
I have already tried, but it did not work the first time!
What is the point in doing it again? I tried and made a mess of things, now I want to move on.

OR

People are just waiting for me to mess up, and honestly, I don’t think I can do it anyway.

You Can Do This!

2- You are not your mistakes

We all have and will make mistakes it is a fact. Why? Because we are human, we live in a world that is not perfect and our flesh can sometimes get the better of us.

However, what is the difference between a person who rises above their mistakes and one who allows their mistakes to consume them?

Mindset

Mindset is the way you think – your attitude.

There are two types

Fixed Mindset Thinking

  • You believe that your abilities and traits are the way they are. They can not be improved or changed.
  • Either I’m good at it or I’m not.
  • That’s just who I am. I can’t change it.
  • If I don’t try, then I won’t fail.
  • That is out of my league.

Growth Mindset Thinking

  • You believe your talents and abilities can be developed over time if you work at it.
  • I can learn to do anything I want.
  • I am constantly evolving
  • The more I challenge myself, the wiser I become
  • I fail only when I stop trying

For Example,

When a fixed mindset versus a growth mindset are trying to learn a new skill there is a difference with their thinking.

Both may become frustrated and discouraged for a moment. The difference is one says I will learn this skill, but I need to ask for help or try it another way.

Where the other says nope, I cannot do this, this is ridiculous. I am done.

According to the article What Is a Mindset and Why It Matters

When you make a mistake, you should ask yourself some questions before you try it again.

What went wrong?

What can you learn from the mistake?

How will you do it differently?

Now, you are armed with new knowledge because at least you know what doesn’t work and you can try it another way.

Also, do not allow fear to take hold of you. God says in

(Philippians 4:6-7)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

So, What Am I Saying?

We all make mistakes; you can choose to allow fear to limit you or learn to push through to better opportunities!
