Take Your Time to Figure it Out – Sadness
It happens to us all there are just some days that sucks. Some can bounce back relatively quickly, while others may take a bit longer, depending on what they have going on in their lives. Some may need to seek professional help.
This month, we will figure out how to get out of the funk we may find ourselves in. Each week I will have some great tips, quotes for inspiration, and motivation to help you get over that hump.
Yes, sometimes, we may need to set in our mood for a minute, but that does not mean we need to stay there.
How to Cope with Sadness and Depressive Feelings
What is the difference between sadness and depression?
It is important to know the difference between when you are feeling down or sad about something versus when you are depressed.
Sometimes, it changes your thoughts and environment, or you take a little time to get out of that sad mood.
Sadness is usually situational; someone has upset you, received terrible news, received a bad grade, or disagreed with a loved one. It is expected to be upset or even distraught.
However, once the issues have cleared up, you return to your happy, cheerful, and usual self. You move on with your life. As a matter of fact, by this time next week or month, you will have forgotten what it was all about.
Sadness does not affect your life too much; you come out of it quickly.
Here are some suggestions on how to get back on track.
Doing activities that engage more than one of your five senses
Watching a sunset
Watching your favorite movie/show
Listening to your favorite music
Doing things that you enjoy
Journaling
Sometimes a good nights rest can reset your perspective in a positive light.

Crying can do wonders. The type of crying I am talking about is called emotional crying or emotional tears –

Improves mood

Enables you to recover from grief
Restores emotional balance
As I was typing this, I remembered an episode on this show called “Everybody Loves Raymond” where Raymond’s wife told him that sometimes it is good to have a good old-fashion cry for no reason.

So, What Am I Saying?
We all get sad from time to time. And there are many helpful and therapeutic ways to handle it. Sometimes, you step back from the situation and take time to process what happened, and then you are good.
When crying is all you do, or you become excessive with crying, then that could mean you may be suffering from depression. We will discuss depression, what to look out for, and how to get help in part 5 of –
