Good or Cruel Making a Difference for Animals Now
Proverbs Chapter 12
Verse 10
Good people are kind to their animals. But very bad people are always cruel.
I looked at this scripture when I was younger and wondered if God was really talking about animals. Was God truly concerned about the welfare of animals like that?
I did not become a pet lover until I was well into my adult years. I had named her Winter. She was a dog mixed with many breeds, but I didn’t care; she was my dog.
How We Met
One cold morning when I was leaving home, she was there by the garage door. She looked at me, and I at her. I felt an immediate connection. The next day, I asked my husband if I could feed her. He said no baby because feeding her would encourage her to stay.
So, I fed her (lol) and named her Winter, and that is when I realized that Winter was pregnant. I did not care – she was my dog now; it was like she understood me. We had our own language.
That Was Years Ago
Winter is no longer with us. It has been years, but I still think about her from time to time. She still holds a special place in my heart.
I return to my original question does God care about animals like that?
I thought of many instances where animals were pivotal in the bible. The first one, in particular, is when Adam is told to name and care for the animals in the garden.
However, when God was creating the animals, He says in Genesis Chapter 1 verse 30 that there will be food for all the animals on earth and there will be food for the birds of the sky.
God said that everything that has life can eat green plants. Talking about a great set-up the animals had in the garden.
Another example
of God’s love and care for His creation is in Genesis 6:19. Noah was instructed to bring 2 of all the different animals, male and female, in the boat, including their food.
Those that moved along the ground and the air. But you know what I am noticing for the first time that God told Noah that the animals would come to him.
I am sure if Noah and his family had to search for all the animals, they would have missed some. Here, when God instructs the animals to go to Noah, not a single animal is missed.
And still another great example
Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds of the air… God provides for the birds.
Here, Jesus is letting us know that if God has already set up the world as their dinner plate, so to speak, how much more will He take care of us?
