I want to emphasize that gender does not play a role when it comes to seduction. It is important to remember that both men and women can be seduced or find themselves in situations where they are tempted.

Additionally, it is crucial that every child receives the necessary information about relationships and intimacy, commonly referred to as the “birds and bees” talk.

Conclusion

The topic of sex evokes a range of reactions from individuals, often met with a sense of shame or considered taboo by some, while celebrated and embraced by others. What makes this subject particularly fascinating is the inherent irony that every single one of us owes our very existence to this act, irrespective of our personal beliefs or opinions.

Human beings are the result of the profound connection between two individuals. Whether birthed from love, passion, or even chaos, the outcome remains constant – the creation of life. It is an indisputable truth that each and every one of us exists due to the physical embodiment of love and desire shared between two people.

Verse 20

First, I apologize for not addressing the elephant in the room in Wisdom in Action: Practical Steps for Overcoming Sexual Sin Part 1.

Solomon, the wise king who taught his son about the twist and turns of life, had an intriguing and colorful history when it came to his romantic urges. Scripture tells us that he had a harem that consisted of 700 wives and 300 concubines.

That is 1000 women.

A thousand in Spanish is mil; in French and Italian, it is Mille; in Germany, it is Tausend; in Swahili, it is Elfu; and in Hindi, it is Hazaar, you get the picture. A thousand in any language regarding wives and concubines is a bit much.

In simpler terms, he indulged in his unique interests and desires, or some would say the freak came out in him.

There is no doubt these relationships undoubtedly gave rise to colorful stories within Solomon’s life. His power and influence as the king of Israel likely attracted many women from various backgrounds and regions.

Each wife and concubine brought a unique history, culture, and perspective, creating a diverse tapestry of experiences within Solomon’s palace.

And because of this, Solomon was undoubtedly drawn toward these women’s religion and neglected his own. The very God that blessed him with riches ends up worshiping other gods.

While it is easy to judge Solomon’s vast number of spouses and concubines through a modern lens,

it is essential to note that polygamy was a prevalent practice during those times. It is seen as a symbol of wealth, power, and status.

However, it did not mean that God approved of Solomon’s practices. One wife brings enough life issues with it, and now you are asking for 999 more.

Consequently,

if you continue reading Solomon’s biblical account, it is noted that his lifestyle choice had consequences and challenges.

Although Solomon’s pursuit of romantic relationships may seem unconventional to many, his final words in the book of Ecclesiastes leave a lasting impression.

In Ecclesiastes 12:13, he concludes,

“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

This verse serves as a reminder that regardless of one’s choices and past experiences,

the ultimate purpose of life is to seek reverence for God and to live in obedience to His commands.

In reflection, Solomon’s story can teach us lessons about the complexities of human desires, the consequences of our choices, and the importance of finding true fulfillment in our relationship with the divine.

Despite his colorful history and the array of relationships he experienced, his ultimate plea to fear God and keep His commandments concludes the essence of Solomon’s wisdom and offers guidance for all of humanity.

Okay, now we can move forward; another version of verse 15 is in Easy English, which says to enjoy sex with your own wife.

And verse 20 in Easy English says You should not give your love to another woman, my son. You should not go to another man’s wife.

Upon understanding Solomon’s message, we can see that he warns us against the dangers of turning away from God. Despite being granted wisdom and wealth beyond measure, Solomon became arrogant and failed to follow God’s instructions.

As a result, he made mistakes that he undoubtedly regretted and found himself in situations beyond his control.

Solomon’s experience serves as a cautionary tale for us all. Sin is enticing; it promises pleasure and satisfaction, but in the end, it only leads to pain and regret.

It’s easy to justify minor missteps, telling ourselves they are not a big deal, but these minor missteps can quickly spiral out of control into something much more significant.

We may convince ourselves that no one will find out or get hurt, but eventually, the consequences of our actions will catch up with us.

Solomon’s message reminds us that we must always remain vigilant in our faith and resist the temptation to stray from God’s path.

We must be mindful of our actions and their impact on ourselves and those around us. We must never forget that the path of sin leads only to destruction, while the path of righteousness leads to everlasting life.

When you find yourself being tempted, there are many ways to escape it, and there are many scenarios I can give.

However, the core point is to ask yourself these four questions.

  1. Am I putting myself in the space and place to be tempted?
  2. Is there something in my life that I am not pleased with that makes me vulnerable to temptation?
  3. If you were caught, what and who would you be devasted and hurt, and lastly, would it be worth it?

Here are some scriptures to help if you find yourself in this situation.

Matthew 26:41

“Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”  BSB

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. BSB

1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; BSB

You were brought at a price. Therefore, glorify God with your body. BSB

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape so that you can stand up under it. BSB

Finally, Brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think on these things.

BSB

Philippians 4:8

The beauty of God lies in His incredible understanding of human nature. He knows that being human means we are susceptible to temptations; sometimes, we may give in to them. However, He doesn’t want us to feel trapped in guilt or shame. Instead, He encourages us to learn from our mistakes and move forward with a purpose to do better.

If you’re currently on this journey of self-improvement, here are some scriptures that might be helpful in inspiring and guiding you. These scriptures can provide you with the strength, hope, and motivation to overcome the challenges that come your way and grow spiritually.

1 John 1:9 –

God is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, He forgives them and cleanses us from everything we’ve done wrong. GW

Romans 1:8

So those who are believers in Christ Jesus can no longer be condemned.

John 8:32

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

GW

God’s grace and mercy are bigger than the biggest challenge we may face today and the worst decision we might make today.

Jonathan Morris

Believe the best about people. Pray for their short comings. You are not the standard. We all need grace.
