ABC’s of Life – L for Lifestyle

Jesus said in John 16:13 – In Him we will have peace – you will have trouble in thisworldl,d but take heart, I have overcome (succeed in dealing with difficulty) the world.

Jesus says He will handle whatever issues life throws us to protect our peace. Amen!

Today we are on the letter L for – Lifestyle. How you live is defined as a lifestyle.

Lifestyle

How a person lives defines their Lifestyle, and since opening up my little world by returning to school, visiting different places, and meeting many remarkable people. I became curious about how others lived and what they did. And I thought this would be an excellent time to examine and see if we were all that different.

I remembered looking at the show “The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. It was a 30-minute show in the mid-80s to mid-90s. That was one of my favorite shows because, as a young adult, I got to see how the famous lived each week. I was intrigued.

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

However,

Without looking up any lifestyle information, I figured there were bad, good, rich, or poor lifestyles, and that was about it.

And daily, you are doing things to improve your Lifestyle, or you are not doing things to improve your Lifestyle. I thought It was just that simple.

However, I knew there had to be more lifestyles out there, and there were,

So, Ta-dah,

here is a site where I found some exciting lifestyles.

10 Types of Lifestyle That Will Inspire You – Life Alofa

Definition

The first section of this article defines a lifestyle, which is pretty much everything a person does, from their daily habits, beliefs, how they dress, what they eat, activities, and personal relationships. Lifestyle also encompasses a person’s dreams, goals, and even their mode of transportation.

Different Types of Lifestyles
  • Digital Lifestyle – you connect with the world through technology from your work to communicating with others, television, reading, online shopping (food, clothes, and furniture), social media, paying bills online, banking online, interacting with family and friends online, school online and work online.
  • Adventurer Lifestyle – This is the person that enjoys the outdoor life. Mountain climbing, rafting, extreme sports, traveling, exploring, skydiving, and scuba diving are just a few.
  • Bohemian Lifestyle – Unconventional Lifestyle – not the mainstream, more community living, gypsy living, and Zen lifestyle (Mindful and existing in the present moment) are some Bohemian lifestyles.
  • Nomadic Lifestyle – not settling down and moving from place to place – making a living and finding food.
  • Corporate Lifestyle – Working 9-5 in a structured building.
  • Solo Lifestyle – a movement that states people can find happiness and fulfillment outside of marriage.
  • Rural Lifestyle- homes are far from each other, few people around, and agriculture is the way of living, like ranching and farming.
  • Urban Lifestyle – Living in the city or town.
  • Active Lifestyle – is adding physical activity into your routine
Then there are some factors to consider.

What is your status in the community, education, gender, age, interpersonal relationship, smoking, healthy habits, and sleep pattern? And this does not include lifestyle diseases; for example, you could have a Corporate Lifestyle with high blood pressure, which would be a factor.

I was aware of some of the different lifestyles I listed above. But I never called them lifestyles, but of course, that is precisely what it is called – their way of life, how they live in every aspect, and the different factors contributing to a healthy or unhealthy lifestyle.

I know without a doubt there are more lifestyles and many factors that go into them with many variables.

So I decided to go in the direction of a healthy lifestyle. Because when you think about it, regardless of your Lifestyle, you should be healthy enough to enjoy it. A healthy lifestyle should consist of

  1. A balanced diet
  2. Lots of water
  3. Plenty of sleep
  4. Not smoking
  5. No Substance abuse.
  6. No Toxic relationships
  7. Not Too much sun
  8. Handling Stress
  9. Physical Activity
And it stands to reason that if there are healthy lifestyles, then there are unhealthy ones.
  • High blood Pressure
  • Bad Cholesterol
  • Overweight
  • Sedentary
  • Doing too much of anything – not creating a balance in your Lifestyle
Homeless Lifestyle

I did not realize that homelessness was a lifestyle. But it is. Homelessness is defined as not having a home or somewhere to call home; they do not have a roof over their heads due to different circumstances (Poverty, fire, natural disaster, or being kicked out of their home). Living on the streets or moving from couch to couch are both considered homeless. Unfortunately, we all have them in our cities, towns, and countries. Here are some great tips to help our fellow humankind.

How to Help the Homeless in the Us – 10 Practical Ways in 2022 | Policy Advice

These are just some things we can do to help people experiencing homelessness. Sometimes homeless are at your door knocking; it could be a relative or friend who is down on their luck that you could help by letting them stay with you until they are financially better to care for their selves. Many people have done this – we have. Some situations turned out well; others did not. Be guided by your instincts.

If you cannot house someone, then there are other things you could do to help.

We could be their voice and speak up for their rights.

  1. If you can hire them, that would be a blessing.
  2. You could Tutor the adults and or children in primary subjects or help them with their homework.
  3. Or give them money.

Retirement Lifestyle Planning: Defining Your Ideal Retirement | Fulfilling Life Tips

I did not see this on the list; however, we live a retired lifestyle.

We first had to decide how our retirement would look before we retired. Did we want to live pillar to post or have saved up to live a comfortable life? Did we want to travel here or abroad? What if we wanted to spend our winters in the warmer parts of the country, pursue a hobby or volunteer work or even go back to school? We had to map out our retirement lifestyle.

To give you a peek, I am just as busy as before I retired, but now I am doing the things I genuinely enjoy. I incorporate a healthy lifestyle into my retirement lifestyle by trying to eat healthily, get my regular check-ups, walk, and do yoga, and something I did not do when I was younger was stretch and stretch some more. That has done wonders for me.

And while we are talking,

I have a retirement, urban, digital, and somewhat active Lifestyle. I believe we can have more than one Lifestyle at once.

For instance, you could be an adventurer on the weekend and have a corporate lifestyle during the weekdays. You could have a Bohemian Lifestyle while being a minimalist.

You could start with a solo lifestyle and move to a married and family lifestyle.

The beauty of it is that you do not have to stay in the same Lifestyle for life or you could try different ones. How cool is that?

Christian Lifestyle

And, of course, I have saved the best for last. You can live a Christian Lifestyle. A Christian Lifestyle is where your life is connected to God through Jesus Christ. You can have any of the Lifestyles mentioned above and live a Christian Lifestyle while doing it.

How does that look in the real world?

  • You can experience peacefulness in good and bad times
  • Being nice to people even when they are not
  • Treating others fair
  • Protecting those less advantaged than yourself.
  • Taking care of what God has blessed you with – family, possessions, and yourself.

Choosing the Christian Lifestyle does not mean you think you are better than others. You have just been there and done that meaning you have done it the world’s way – which offers frustrations, fear, unrest, and hatred. And you prefer God’s way of doing things. His way is fun and peaceful, and everyone around you ends up reaping the benefits from your choosing a Christian Lifestyle.

In Conclusion –

L stands for Lifestyle; it is how we live, what we do, and believe in.

What type of Lifestyle or lifestyles do you have? Have you ever considered trying something new or improving your Lifestyle? Please share in the comment section below.
