What do you love about where you live?

The Joy of the Lord is my strength

– Nehemiah 8:10

What Does the Joy of the Lord Really Mean?

Society says joy means a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

I have felt joy on many levels, just as I believe many others have.

I felt joy when I got married, had each of my children, watched my grandchildren be born, and saw my children marry the loves of their lives.

I have felt joy when we got our first house, car, when friends and I get together, when I go out with the girls for lunch, or when I have a good laugh with family.

However, God’s Joy comes from the inside out, and you have to have your relationship with Him.

But I can not begin to explain the pure, unadulterated Joy I feel when I think about the Lord. My God is such an awesome and wonderful God. He is forgiving, and His joy stays with me during good times and bad.

God’s joy is not temporary, and His joy is better than happiness and better than the world’s definition of joy, which is temporary and will fly out the window based on what is happening in your life.

The joy of the Lord is my strength – The joy of the Lord is my protection!

God’s joy is a gift we do not deserve, but He heaps it on us when we ask for it. The Joy of the Lord is rooted in a relationship with Him. You can not purchase it from the store or borrow it from a friend.

If you have never felt this pure joy from the Lord, ask for it and seek it out like you would gold or riches, because that is exactly what it is. Precious!

Here are two more scriptures that talk about God’s joy!

You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalms 16:11

He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,

Luke 1:14
