How to Pray for Others.

Learning how to pray and pour into others can at first feel like another task we must do. But throughout Scripture, we find men and women who stood in the gap for others—Abraham, Moses, Samuel, and ultimately Jesus, who continues to intercede for us today.

What Is Intercessory Prayer?

Intercessory prayer is praying for someone else’s needs.

You are asking God to provide:

• Peace
• Protection
• Wisdom
• Healing
• Strength
• Hope

Personally, I can’t count how many times others have prayed for me, and those prayers have blessed me. They have also poured words of encouragement into me.

I needed it in that moment. It lifted and encouraged me to hang on because things were going to get better. And they always did.

Sometimes, people will ask you to pray. At other times, you’ll notice a situation or read about someone facing a misfortune and instinctively begin praying for them.

None of that is by accident. God sometimes places a person on your heart. Don’t ignore the gentle prompting.

Who has God placed on your heart today?
Pause for a few moments and pray. Your prayer may become someone else’s encouragement, protection, or answered prayer.

If you don’t know what to pray, open your Bible and pray God’s promises over their life. His Word never returns empty.
