What You Value Most
What you value most, you will prioritize and protect time for.
Before my husband received his orders to move to England for four years.
Before our family moved out of the country, I loved my extended family and appreciated my friends. I loved and enjoyed their visits.
But it wasn’t until we moved out of the country that I realized. Oh my God! I had truly taken for granted the love and support of my loved ones.
To move to a country where everything felt foreign to me. We had to start over, looking for a place to live, seeking out schools for our children, changing doctors, and, though they spoke English, the accents in parts of England were unfamiliar to me as I learned the culture. Learning their food and customs, driving on the left side of the road.
Now don’t get me wrong, by the time 4 years were up. I truly embraced the people and the culture.
However, there is nothing like family.
We moved back to the states and we made sure to keep a close connection to family and friends.
Moving Far Away Changes What You Value Most.
My outlook on life definitely changed. I came to value my family and close friends more. I made time for them, and still do, even decades later, my love for them has only grown stronger.
