Beat Procrastination

Beat Procrastination? That may be a tough one, especially with the cold weather and shorter daytime hours.

However what usually happens when we put off something is that it either dominates our thoughts until we do it or the longer you put it off the worse it gets, or it is simply still there when you get around it to.

My biggest issue used to be that when I put things off, it dominated my mind. After many years, I realized I needed to get it done so I could move on to other things. And get on with my life.

I came up with several ways to make my life easier.

The first thing I did was stop pretending I did not need to do it! Or that it would disappear. Neither has ever happened! It still needed to get done, and it never disappeared. Lol

At first, I would focus on getting the task, obligation, or whatever it was finished so I could be done with it. Since I had many tasks to complete, I found myself just going through life, crossing things off, and getting them over with. Not realizing I wasn’t enjoying or appreciating my world.

So, I had to reset.

I knew on a deeper level that was not the way God wanted me to represent His love in the world. Just getting by, hurrying up to the next thing to do.

So, how was I going to beat procrastination? Below are some habits I have incorporated into my life that have helped me avoid putting things off. I realized that I like to control things, not people, just my life.

Beat Procrastination

  1. Started setting short- and long-term goals.
  2. I created a weekly chore list.
  3. I began scheduling my less pleasant task.
  4. And I sprinkled the tasks I enjoyed doing among the tasks I procrastinated on.

This works perfectly for me.

When I see it on paper, then I take it seriously. And when I have other things that I enjoy doing to look forward to, then it is easier for me not to procrastinate.

It’s all about mindset, I don’t know, but it works for me!
