When my day is demanding and then turns odd!
I am reminded that when I directed and managed a barber school, while having a whole family at home, I traveled extensively for work, had a small staff, and worked with adult students who did not always make the correct decisions for their lives.
Each day was never the same! Ever!
I learned that if I did not purpose to schedule some moments of stepping away, things would always turn out odd.
Lunchtime
If I did not leave the school and go for a walk at the nearby park, sit and read at the local library around the corner, or get my favorite salad from the shop up the street, I was in for a long day at work.
To Unwind
After work, I usually unwind on the ride home, put in a CD, and listen to anything other than work-related stuff. I sometimes called my mother on the way home to feel sane. When I arrived home, my tension level had decreased considerably. And once I got home and saw my family, believe it or not, they were quite calming for me.
If I didn’t want my day to turn odd by arguing with my family and making everyone unhappy or uncomfortable due to my stressful day at work, I would always try not to bring my work home, and ensure that I got enough rest to tackle the next day.
