10 Life-Changing Tips on Living Your Life Unapologetically Now!

U – Unapologetic
I felt empowered just typing out the title.
10 Life-Changing Tips on Living Your Life Unapologetically Now!
Story One
I pictured a defiant child at the kitchen table who will not, won’t, and just flat-out refuse to eat their veggies. No matter the pleas or bribes from the parent, the child refuses to eat the veggies. They do not care that you worked hard to put the food on the table; they do not care that you not only paid for everything, went shopping for the food, loaded the groceries out of the car into the house, and then cooked the food. Only for your child to refuse to eat and to add insult to hurt feelings; they are unapologetic in the whole process.
Story Two
Then, my mind went to a courtroom scene or a documentary on serial killers. Who murder innocent people and destroy the lives of their loved ones.
There is never a good reason to take someone’s life; the killer’s reason is even more disturbing because they have none. It’s for the thrill to see if they could get away with it.
They show no remorse when recanting the story of the senseless murders, and when on death row, if given an interview, there is no guilt, and sometimes, all the way up to their execution, there are still no signs of remorse. They remain defiant and unapologetic.

Some People Will Get Upset with You.
They expected you to be a certain way, and how dare you not conform to how they view you?
They may be critical and feel unhappy with their situation, forcing them to look at themselves.
And you may end up losing some people in your circle. That will be fine; it stings at first, but you will get through it because the alternative would be to stay the way they want you to.
You Get Unwanted Advice and Warnings
Most times, people do not ask for advice when they are making personal life changes.
But when you ask for advice, do not be surprised if you are met with resistance from those around you.
Now, I would only listen or consider advice if my inner circle were sharing, who I know has my best interest at heart. I would hear their advice, but ultimately, it would be my decision.
People may trash-talk you.
However, once again, that sounds like a personal issue of how they feel about themselves and project it onto you. It is not fair to you. They will have to do some soul-searching.
You take the high road. And move on with your life.
You will bruise people’s ego.
Why are you not doing what I am doing? I thought we were going to (fill in the blank) ____________ together? Now you are leaving me. How unfair you are selfish! Those are some of the things some people may say to you after sharing your plans with them.
You’ll feel a sense of immense freedom and fulfillment.

When you genuinely decide not to dance to anyone’s tune and dare to step out on your dreams, it can be freeing and intimidating at the same time. But rewarding because it is something you unapologetically decided to do for yourself.

Seriously, think about who you are.
- Not who others say you are but who you are. Here are some questions to ask yourself.
- If you could live anywhere, where would that be?
- What kinds of food make you happy
- What type of life purpose would bring you fulfillment?
- What are your hobbies and pastimes?
- What kind of relationship(s) would you want, if any?
These questions can paint a picture of the type of life you desire and help you look at where you are concerning the answers to your questions.
Be brave and take that step.
At first, it may be baby steps, but once you see that the sky won’t fall and that it was not as hard as you thought or loved how it may you feel, it will get easier to take the next step and continue.
When I decided to return to school after many years, I was nervous and kept putting it off until finally, one day, I enrolled in a class and enjoyed it. By the following year, I was enrolled full-time and did not look back!
Be aware of areas of hurt and start there.
If you have been upset, angry, depressed, or something has been on your mind that is unsettling. Then you probably need to start there.
It could be a bad relationship, someone in your life is treating you with no respect, you may not like your job, you may not be happy with your appearance (weight, hair color, or clothes)
you may be in pain and need to get it checked out but are afraid to. Grab a friend and take them with you to get checked out so you can move on with the positive in your life.
You do not have to be apologetic.
You do not have to be apologetic for how you want to live. This includes everyone, including those closest to you.
Stand your ground!
Live your truth. You figure out what it is that you like. You do not have to be a people pleaser because you do not want to rock the boat. Get to rocking because that will be the only way you can become your true self.
If your crowd likes to drink and you do not, then don’t. If they make you uncomfortable, it may be time to make new friends.
You can get your inspiration from things that attract you.
What is your favorite color, time of the year, or era? Are you able to incorporate this into your life? Or do you like a particular part of the country? Can you visit or incorporate some of the culture into yours? Now, that would be cool.
Learn to set boundaries.
If you want to do it, then do it. Do not say yes to something that you do not want to do or when you think you are being taken advantage of. If someone asks to borrow money and you do not have it to give, you don’t want to say no and mean it. Do not let people guilt you into it.
You do not need permission from others to do anything.
You are an adult; if you want to stay in your pajamas all weekend and eat cereal while binge-watching your favorite show, do it.
When I feel like shutting down, I do. I will stay in my pajamas all day and binge-watch my favorite show or a new series, and that is it. Afterward, I feel revived and ready to take on the world.
Enjoy the ride

The Search
A man named Rafe wanted someone to always be by his side. He wanted someone who understood him and saw the world similarly. So, he began searching for a woman to be his partner.
But during his travels around the world, he became wiser. He learned much about himself, heard legendary stories, and gained enlightenment.
By then, he realized he was asking for too much. He learned that a partner is someone you attract —not just someone who enters your life because you want them to.

Misty Copeland: Provided representation in the arts.
Like most art forms, ballet originated in 16th-century France and was reserved for the wealthy. Centuries later, Misty Copeland became one of the inspirational people who changed the world by proving that ballet wasn’t reserved for just the white or wealthy. Copeland began dancing at the late age of 13 and received her training from a local Boys & Girls Club. Despite cultural norms stacked against her race, body type, and background, Copeland became the first African-American principal ballet dancer (the highest role of a ballerina) at the American Ballet Theater, the first in the company’s history. She has changed the way the world imagines ballerinas.
These are just a few stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Undoubtedly, some had to push through their fears and the negativity of others.
